Bangalore: It's still the winter month but days seem to have got hotter. Worse, the summer this year could be severe, predicts the meteorology department.
"The summer last year was influenced by unusually heavy rain but that might not happen this time,'' Met department director A Muthuchami told TOI. With the sun now moving towards the northern hemisphere, summer is expected to set in during March, as usual.

Meanwhile, in the absence of clouding and the atmosphere having got drier, day temperatures have been on the rise. The maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius recorded on Monday has been the highest this year. The minimum temperatures have also been on the rise. Last week, the city recorded an average minimum temperature of 14-15 degrees Celsius but it increased to 18 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning.
"It's a general trend for hotter days during February. In 2005, we had recorded one of the highest temperatures in recent times of 35.9 degrees Celsius,'' Muthuchami said.
