BANGALORE: A 48-year-old construction supervisor died after he accidentally fell into a lift shaft from the seventh floor of an under-construction building on Monday night. The building was located on the premises of a private super specialty hospital in Vasantnagar, central Bangalore.
Shaji John, a resident of RT Nagar and native of Kerala, was sleeping on the seventh floor of the building when he accidentally fell into the lift shaft.
"Shaji was supervising tile-laying work and slept in a room up there. His colleagues last saw him round 11.45pm on Monday when he went up to the seventh floor saying he would go to sleep," High Grounds police said.
On Tuesday morning, Erriswamy, a construction worker, found Shaji's body in the lift shaft.
Police have booked a case of negligence against the construction company that was building a block for the hospital. They are examining the company's liability in the accident.
Police said Shaji's family stays in his native place and they are waiting for his relatives to arrive in the city and collect the body.
