Jobs galore, thousands explore
BANGALORE: The two-day TimesJobs BigLeap fair that kicked off on Saturday was a roaring success for the ITES (IT enabled services) at the Bishop Cotton Boys’ School here. If Saturday was some measure of crowd response for companies that saw huge walk-ins, Sunday is expected to see an even greater response.
Around 4,500 people, a mix of freshers and experienced people, hopped into the fair grounds, where market majors were participating: HP, IBM, Transworks, Sutherland Global Services, 24/7, Trump Trainers and Consultants and Allsec Technologies.

Reiterating the city’s sobriquet as the BPO capital, each company received a "warm response" in terms of numbers.
IBM, the lead sponsor, alone saw around 1,500 to 2,000 registrations for jobs in customer support and other areas. "The numbers have been satisfactory. We have also offered a few jobs to some candidates," said an IBM executive. Another happy recruiter was Lokesh Raj, senior manager (resourcing) of Transworks, who said, "The numbers have been quite large, even the quality of people walking in has been good."
HP received around 900 hopefuls looking out for jobs in the BPO sector for freshers and also for technical support. A win-win situation for the participants indeed. Ramya Raju, who came to the fair, said, "It helped me learn about the vacancies. Though the choice is limited, these are all the best companies that have come together."
Varsh Rao, whose bag was overflowing with brochures and information booklets, said, "I am getting the information that I need. I have a few specifications and some expectations. All I have to do is match my needs with that of the companies and come back tomorrow to take the test."
