bangalore: chances of janata dal's both factions coming together to field a common candidate for the kanakapura by-election have brightened with the state unit leaders c. byre gowda jd(u) and siddaramaiah jd(s) meeting on thursday. it is learnt vokkaliga members of both factions - byre gowda, h.n. nanje gowda, k.n. nage gowda and b.n. bache gowda met on wednesday and decided that differences between them should be set aside for the by-poll.
the meeting on thursday will be held at byre gowda's residence. party sources said former prime minister h.d. deve gowda was emerging as the consensus candidate. senior jd(u) leader ramakrishna hegde is reported to have spoken to byre gowda and party mla p.g.r. sindhia to work towards a common candidate for the prestigious by-poll.
