BANGALORE: Justice B V Pinto on Friday stayed for eight weeks proceedings in pursuance of an FIR against Sirajin Basha, an advocate who had filed five complaints before the special Lokayukta court against former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and his relatives.
Basha had challenged the October 29 FIR registered against him on the charge that he submitted fabricated documents relating to complaints he had filed before the Lokayukta court.
The FIR was filed under IPC’s Sections 193 (fabricating false evidence) and 466 (forging records). Basha, along with KN Balaraj, had moved governor HR Bhardwaj seeking sanction to prosecute Yeddyurappa, who as CM allegedly denotified BDA land in and around Bangalore for pecuniary benefits.
MLA MUST COOPERATE WITH COPS
Refusing to stay proceedings, the high court asked S Muniraju, a BJP legislator, to cooperate with Lokayukta police in the investigation against him.
Justice Pinto asked Lokayukta police not to arrest Muniraju, and allowed them to interrogate him in the presence of an advocate. The main petition will be taken up after two weeks.
SOMANNA’S PETITIONS
The high court ordered issuance of notice to Lokayukta police on an anticipatory bail petition filed by housing minister V Somanna and his wife Shylaja. Justice H Billappa posted the matter to December 5. The Somanna couple has also filed an interlocutory application for interim bail.
The complaint, filed by Ravi Krishna Reddy, relates to denotification of 22 guntas of land at Nagadevanahalli.
MEMBERS’ LIST SUBMITTED
A list containing the names of members and associated members of the Karnataka Judicial Employees’ House Building Co-operative Society was submitted to the high court on Friday.
The special division bench, headed by Justice Rammohan Reddy, directed the registry to keep the list in safe custody, and adjourned the hearing to December 9.
The bench is hearing two petitions seeking a CBI probe into the affairs of the co-operative society.
