BANGALORE: Those who woke up early on Sunday were surprised to see a dense fog enveloping the streets and causing low visibility. The city recorded 92% humidity in the morning as against 68% on Saturday.
However, the good news is the meteorological department says the fog season is coming to an end. It was southern winds from the sea that increased humidity on Sunday morning.
Fog in Bangalore is not a usual phenomenon, met department director A Muthuchami said. "From now on, fog will reduce. Even the evening weather chart showed low humidity and dry conditions. High clouds and change in wind direction towards the east have declined the possibility of a rise in fog in the days to come," Muthuchami explained.
Though nights will continue to be chilly, the day temperature is expected to increase. On Sunday, the city recorded a maximum of was 31 degree celsius, the highest of the month so far.
Last year, Bangalore witnessed rain in February. This year, pre-monsoon showers are expected to arrive in March.
