Bangalore: Fog hit several flights' schedule badly as many could not land due to dense fog at Bangalore International Airport on Thursday.
A BIA spokesperson said, "There were no arrivals at all for three hours between 5.30 am and 8.30 am. There were only three departures from BIA on Thursday. Two flights, one from Mumbai and the other from London were diverted owing to the fog."
According to A Muthuchami, director, meteorological department, the temperature usually decreases with height, but on Thursday at 5.30 am, the temperature was 20 degree Celsius, and at 1.5 km above sea surface it was 23 degree Celsius.

"Due to this inversion in temperature with no wind, the weather was static for sometime on Thursday morning," Muthuchami said.
"Since we had a clear sky on Wednesday, it was an ideal atmosphere for fog to be formed and it's not unusual during the North-East Monsoon season," he explained.
