CM H D Kumaraswamy, who has been touring Mysore taluk for the past few days, has sanctioned development works worth over Rs 250 crore.
MYSORE: Chamundeshwari, one among the five largest constituencies in Karnataka, never had it so good.With election to the constituency nearing, several development programmes have been chalked out for implementation. Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, who has been touring Mysore taluk for the past few days as part of his Janata Darshan, has sanctioned development works worth over Rs 250 crore.
A sum of Rs 18 crore has been sanctioned for construction of the bridge near Saagarkatte village on the border of KRS and KR Nagar, which forms part of Chamundeshwari constituency. Besides Rs 12 crore for improving roads by PWD and Rs 2.3 crore for constructing community halls from MPs M A M Ramaswamy and Rajeev Chandrashekar MPs' area development fund respectively, the CM has sanctioned Rs 14 crore for supplying drinking water from KRS to 53 villages.
Of the beneficiary villages, 30 are from Chamundeshwari segment. Apart from promising five power sub-stations to improve power supply in Mysore taluk, he has promised 24-hour power supply to the constituency with effect from Saturday. Deputy commissioner S Selvakumar said Kumaraswamy has directed secretaries concerned to expedite the works while various public departments and the zilla panchayat are processing pending projects for implementation at the earliest.
Even Mysore city has managed to get its share with Rs 30 crore sanctioned for improving basic amenities in slums and revenue layouts around the city. Mysoreans revering goddess Chamundeshwari will soon be led from darkness to light as Rs 2 crore will be spent to provide permanent lighting at Chamundi temple atop the hills. Under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, the CM has sanctioned Rs 90 crore for improving water distribution system in MUDA layouts, which also forms the constituency while Rs 98 crore will be diverted towards Kabini drinking water supply scheme taking into consideration the southern part of the constituency.
