Chebbi takes over as DCP (West)

bangalore: g.b. chebbi, former sp of uttara kannada district took charge as deputy commissioner of police (west) in the city on friday in place of u.nissar ahmed who was moved to the city's east zone. chebbi, who joined the karnataka state police service as dysp is being posted to the city for the first time. he has a vast work experience in the state's coastal areas and is well versed with mafia activities.he has handled sensitive bhatkal and other parts of coastal karnataka. the new challenges before him in the city are handling rowdy menace in areas such as vijayanagar, magadi road, k.p.agrahara and kamakshipalya. he has to deal with communally sensitive areas such as j.j.nagar and byatarayanapura. apart from this, dcp (west) needs to concentrate on maintaining law and order in the business areas of chikpet, majestic, kalasipalyam, cottonpet. the city railway station and ksrtc and bmtc bus stations will fall, under his jurisdiction. nissar ahmed who had a smooth tenure as dcp (west) in the last three years has many challenges awaiting him the city's east zone in the form of several unsolved sensational murders, robbery and dacoity cases. to name a few, the indiranagar double murder, jtm executive ramesh's contract killing, ramamurthynagar school boy's kidnapping for ransom and murder, frazer town jeweller, sumer chand surana's killing, dandupalya type killings in k.r. puram and surrounding areas and several armed robberies in indiranagar. apart from this, nissar ahmed needs to concentrate on the rowdy menace in shivajinagar and handle communally sensitive areas like k.g.halli and d.j.halli. dacoit menace is rampant in banasawadi, hennur, k.r.puram, byappanahalli and areas located on the outskirts bordering hoskote, devanahalli. nisar ahmed accompanied by his deputy g.a.bawa, acp (chikpet) has solved several sensational kidnappings, robberies in the west zone. however, he failed to control rowdy activities and robberies in vijayanagar and surrounding areas.
