Bus commuters forum begged to shame government

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Bus Passengers Forum collected Rs 1300 by begging in Shantinagar bus station on Saturday in order to shame the government.
“This money will be given to CM who says there is no money to absorb the loss BMTC and KSRTC incurred. But he has all the money to send his ministers for foreign junkets and one minister is spending public money to renovate his house,” said Manohar Elavarthi, member if the forum.
The protest gathered about 70 members from the forum and the general public who resonated the same feeling. They have been demanding a roll back in the fare hike. The BMTC hiked fares unilaterally by 15% this year but this is 70% in two years.
They also demanded the state government to support BMTC financially and absorb the losses so that the fare will not be burdening the ordinary commuters. The Rs 1300 sum will be sent to CM on demand draft, said members.
