3-day show: Students stage Magical Lamp from the Arabian Nights

As part of its 150th year celebrations, Cathe dral High School presented a theatrical production, The Magical Lamp, from December 14 to 16. A wellknown West Asian folk tale from The Arabian Nights, the story revolves around Aladdin, the protagonist and his run-in with the genie, Princess Jasmine and their adventures involving the magic lamp. The story threw light on the classic theme of tri umph of good over evil.

BENGALURU: As part of its 150th year celebrations, Cathe dral High School presented a theatrical production, The Magical Lamp, from December 14 to 16. The story threw light on the classic theme of tri umph of good over evil.
Wi t h a sprightly music score that livened up the story, characters that stayed true to the West Asian genre of the tale, dramatic twists and turns in the plot, the cast comprising students of Cathedral School left no stone unturned in their effort to present the story. They put in long hours of practice to make this production an authentic and a realistic one. The support staff, teaching and administrative faculty also did their bit behind the scenes to ensure smooth rehearsals.
The production was directed by eminent theatre person Diana Tholoor and choreographed by Richard Tholoor, a renowned dancer. The production is the brain child of Cathedral Pre-University College and High School principal Isabella Simon.
Taekwondo and yoga mark sports meet at school
The Royale Concorde International School, Yelahanka organized their annual sports meet on December 4 to inculcate sportsman spirit among students. The event commenced with a guard of honour for international swimmer Pooja Alva, who was the chief guest for the occasion. Also present were actress Bhavya Gowda, managing trustee of Royale Group of Institutions and chairperson of Royale Kids International, and Varsha Ja i d e e p, t h e p r i n c i p a l .Among the many colourful displays were yoga, taekwondo, and hoola hoop. Other events included obstacle race, 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100 meters.

Addressing the gathering, Pooja Alva highlighted the importance of sports. “To bring meaning to the vision of our life, one should be focussed in order to move from knowledge to action,“ said the young achiever. Bhavya addressed the gathering and motivated students. In her school report, principal Varsha Jaideep made a special mention of the students who participated at inter-school events and brought laurels for the school.
'Everyone is a friend in sports'
Ace swimmer Para Olympian Sharad M Gaikwad was the chief guest at Athlos, the sports meet of Delhi Public School, South, on December 2. The school flag was hoisted, followed by the ceremonial parade by the four houses _ Cauvery, Ganga, Godavari and Narmada. The parade exhibited discipline and dedicated practice of students.Sports captain Sankarshan Durgaprasad administered oath to the house captains and participants. The sports torch was lit by the chief guest and handed over to principal Manju Sharma, who in turn, relayed it to the sporting stars of the school.“In sports, everybody is a friend. You may compete with each other on the field, but once it is over, you are friends again,“ Sharad said. The principal said, “Sports is the perfect platform to showcase your talents“. KK Educational and Charitable Trust (KKECT) secretary and member, board of management Maqsood Ali Khan and KKECT treasurer Mansoor Ali Khan were present. Godavari team was awarded the Best Marching Contingent Trophy. It also lifted the rolling trophy as the champion house. Sports captain Srishti Agrawal proposed the vote of thanks.
