11-yr-old cyclist run over by speeding truck

An 11-year-old boy astride a bicycle was run over by a speeding truck near Kengeri, southwest Bengaluru, on Thursday afternoon.A 10-year-old boy riding pillion sustained injuries.

Bengaluru: An 11-year-old boy astride a bicycle was run over by a speeding truck near Kengeri, southwest Bengaluru, on Thursday afternoon. A 10-year-old boy riding pillion sustained injuries.
The accident happened when Suresh, son of construction workers, and his friend Jeevan were returning from Bazaar Street after filling air in the tyres. Suresh was crushed under the wheels of the truck while Jeevan, who was thrown into the air, fell a little away.

Passerby rushed them to Rajarajeshwari Hospital where Suresh was declared dead.
Suresh, who lived in Halegevaderapalya, was studying in class 6 in a government school. On Thursday, he did not go to school as he was not feeling well. After his parents left for work, Suresh, however, took out his bicylce and went for a ride with friend Jeevan. Kengeri police have arrested truck driver Thangadurai, 48, and seized the vehicle.
Pedestrian knocked down, killed
In another incident, a 55-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot when a speeding motorcycle knocked him down near the Metro station in Yeshwantpur on Thursday. Venkataramanappa, a Peenya resident, was crossing the road to go to the Metro station when the bike hit him. Venkataramanappa, thrown to the road, sustained severe head injuries. The biker, Vinod Kumar, 25, too fell off the vehicle and sustained severe injuries.
Venkataramanappa was on his way to the city civil court to attend a hearing. Vinod, who is a second-year BE student, has been admitted to a private hospital.
