BAREILLY: With the intent to mock Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb, who had reportedly said that the solution to unemployment is setting up of paan shops, Congress leaders in Badaun on Saturday opened a paan kiosk and claimed that they suffered a loss of Rs 220 on day one. The party leaders claimed that they spent Rs 320, while they earned only Rs 100.
They claimed that through such ideas, BJP is making fun of unemployed youths in the country.
Omkar Singh, state general secretary, UP Congress Committee, said, “Since
Tripura CM had claimed that an unemployed person can have a bank balance of Rs 5 lakh by setting up a paan shop, we decided to open a kiosk outside our office to see if that is true. However, contrary to his claims, it was difficult to draw customers as people are not interested in eating paan. We suffered a loss of Rs 220. We will now send a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi through Badaun district magistrate on Monday and ask him to compensate us for our loss. Instead of creating job opportunities, the PM and his CMs are suggesting loss-making ideas to unemployed youth.’’
Shafi Ahmad, president, Badaun Youth Congress, said, “Modi had promised jobs to lakhs of unemployed people before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Now that his government has failed to fulfill this promise, they are making irresponsible statements about opening pakoda and paan shops to make fun of youngsters. They will be taught a lesson in 2019 elections.”
