Stepfather held for impregnating 16yo girl

Pilibhit: A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged under the Pocso Act for allegedly impregnating his 16-year-old stepdaughter in a village in Pilibhit district, police said on Thursday. The matter came to light when the survivor went for a health check-up with her mother on Tuesday. The minor alleged that her stepfather had been raping her for months and had threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone.In her complaint, the girl's mother alleged that when she confronted her husband about the incident, he threatened to kill them if they reported it to the police. The accused then fled and took refuge in a neighbouring village. Barkhera SHO Pramendra Kumar said, "The accused has been charged under BNS sections 65(1) (rape on a woman under 16 years of age) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and sections of the Pocso Act."
