FIR for violating safety norms after fire in snacks maker’s house
Pilibhit: A day after fire broke out in the house of ‘namkeen' maker Jumma Ansari in Khushimal locality of Pilibhit city on Monday afternoon, Pilibhit police filed a case against him for flouting fire safety-related norms and using a diesel furnace, equipped with a motorised blower, without obtaining valid permission from the fire department.Fire tenders took over an hour to control the blaze on Monday.A written complaint in the matter was filed by sub-inspector Shubham Bharti, posted at Sungarhi police station. He stated that Ansari could not produce a no-objection certificate (NOC) or any valid licence for using a mechanised diesel furnace.Further, Ansari stored diesel in containers close to the furnace. His act of using a diesel furnace without ensuring safety measures was hazardous and could pose a threat to the safety of people living in a narrow street in the neighbourhood, Bharti said.Sungarhi police station SHO Naresh Kumar Tyagi said a case was registered against Ansari under BNS sections 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety due to rash or negligent behaviour) and 287 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter).
