Pilibhit: A Class IV employee working as an accountant at Janata Inter College, Bisalpur, has been suspended after he was found to be involved in the manipulated transfer over Rs 1 crore from the district treasury to his wife's personal savings account.
District magistrate Gyanendra Singh ordered the suspension of the accused, Ilham Shamsi, on Friday and said that legal action, including the filing of an FIR will follow soon.
The matter surfaced when the chief manager of Bank of Baroda's main branch in Pilibhit alerted the district magistrate about 98 suspicious credit transactions between Sept 12, 2024 and Dec 3, 2025. The transfers, averaging more than Rs 7 lakh per month, were made to the account of Shamsi's wife, Arshi Khatoon.
District inspector of schools Rajiv Kumar, who issued the suspension order, said Shamsi's attachment to another college during the suspension period will be addressed on Monday. "A separate inquiry panel will also be formed to conduct an inquiry against him," he added.
