Pilibhit: The cybercrime cell recovered 160 mobile phones that had been lost over the past year and handed them over to their rightful owners on Thursday. The total value of the recovered handsets is estimated at over Rs 20.8 lakh.
Police officer Natasha Goel said the phones were traced and recovered with the help of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) app. The most expensive handset was valued at Rs 37,000, while the least expensive was worth Rs 6,500.
Goel stated that the individuals from whom the mobile phones were recovered admitted to being in possession of the lost devices but were not involved in their theft. Hence, no legal action was taken against them.
