CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, led by Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has announced a membership drive in Marathwada from May 7.
The month-long drive has set the target of having at least one lakh voters from each assembly constituency join the party.
Meanwhile, the incoming stream of new members into BRS from Maharashtra continues as a group of leaders and activists from different parties and organisations hailing from the Vidarbha region of the state joined the party in the presence of Rao at Hyderabad, on Wednesday night.

BRS leader Pravin Jethewad said the membership drive would be carried out at booth level across eight districts of Marathwada.
“There is a natural urge for people to join the BRS and we were getting flooded with queries about when the membership drive will take place in Marathwada,” he said.
Claiming that the rural population of Maharashtra was in awe of Chandrashekar Rao and the development model he successfully implemented in Telangana, Jethewad said the BRS would emerge as an effective political alternative in the state.
“The three rallies carried out by the BRS supremo in Marathwada witnessed massive crowds. The response implies that people of Maharashtra are fed up with the present politics of mudslinging and accusations, and are seeking a visionary leader like the Telangana chief minister,” he said.
