Disclosing this today, the MP said, "he had written two separate letters to the CM seeking his immediate attention and intervention to ensure that both these projects are implemented on time."
“In the Kandi areas of Punjab there is a serious problem of damaged crops because of the menace of wild animals running amuck and our government remains committed to curb the menace of wild animals in the Kandi area,” he wrote in the letter while referring to the chief minister’s earlier announcement on the matter.
He said during the Parliamentary Election campaign the CM told him that a possible holistic solution to the above mentioned could be a 309 kilometres electrified fence with low voltage current running through it that stretches from one end of the Kandi region to the other.
He said, the project would cost in the realm of about 300 crores as per a rough back of the envelope calculation. It would become the first line of protection for farmers of the Kandi area, he added.
Tewari expressed confidence that the Punjab government under Capt Amarinder’s leadership would be able to find funds for this project failing thereby the central government could always be requested to fund the project.
The MP also urged the chief minister to constitute the Kandi Area Development board for the holistic development of the area with representation of MPs and MLAs.
