AMRITSAR: Minister for commerce and industry Madan Mohan Mittal officially inaugurated five day Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX), the 11th edition here on Friday even as the expo had begun on December 8th.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised that PITEX was an ideal platform for sharing of experience and knowledge of trade among the international delegates.
He said: “technology and knowledge with its sharing go altogether for the betterment of human evolution. The organising of such exposition is a good step to help the industry grow.” Mittal said at the PITEX, where the delegates came from the SAARC nations, would also help developing man-to-man relationship. On the occasion, RS Sachdeva, co- chairman, Punjab Committee, PHDCCI, said more than 200 industrialists from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and from different states of India were participating in the PITEX. “They are taking India and SAARC economic relations forward,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two-day long reverse buyer seller meet came to an end with a generation of business queries upto Rs 319 crores, claimed an official release. Over 150 delegates from SAARC nations attended the meet and signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to cash on various sectors.
Parveen Rathee, Regional Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chandigarh said the Buyer and Sellers Meet aimed for the promotion of bilateral trade relations and strengthening of global economic linkages with the participating SAARC countries.
