'Frequent calls, WhatsApp messages’: NIA, police grill man with suspected Pakistan terror links; SIM cards seized

NIA and Sri Sathya Sai district police have detained Noor Ahmed, a Dharmavaram resident, for interrogation due to suspected links with Pakistan-based terror groups. Ahmed, who runs a tea stall, allegedly made frequent calls and sent WhatsApp messages to suspected terror operatives in Pakistan.

TIRUPATI: Officials from the NIA (National Investigation Agency), along with the Sri Sathya Sai district police wing, have taken a Dharmavaram resident with suspected links to terror outfits in Pakistan into custody for questioning.According to reliable sources, the man, identified as Noor Ahmed, who works at a tea stall on Market Street in Dharmavaram, was reportedly making frequent phone calls to Pakistan and allegedly sending WhatsApp messages to suspected terror operatives in the neighbouring country.

The NIA, along with the police, conducted searches at Noor Ahmed’s residence in Dharmavaram and seized SIM cards and other suspicious material.Noor Ahmed has been moved to an undisclosed location for questioning by the NIA and the Dharmavaram police.Investigations into his activities, background, and origin are being carried out by the agencies.
