TIRUPATI: A middle aged farmer was badly wounded after being attacked by a pair of bears at Uppuvanka in Kalyandurg mandal of Anantapur district on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Ramanna. The pair of bears which ventures out of the nearby forest area, attacked Ramanna when he was working at his farmland early on Wednesday morning.
The bears peeled off his hear and caused him severe head injuries.
However, Ramanna managed to escape from the attack and reached the government general hospital at Anantapur with the help of the local villagers and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Forest department officials and local police inspected the farmland, where Ramanna was attacked by the bears. Officials said elaborate measures will be taken to prevent such attacks in the future.
