Andhra Pradesh: Hopes run high as Gajendra Singh Shekhawath to visit Polavaram project today

Union jal shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawath will be visiting Polavaram project on Friday. He is scheduled to arrive in Vijayawada on Thursday evening and hold discussions with chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He, along with Jagan, will inspect the project and R&R colonies on Friday.

AMARAVATI: Union jal shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawath will be visiting Polavaram project on Friday. He is scheduled to arrive in Vijayawada on Thursday evening and hold discussions with chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He, along with Jagan, will inspect the project and R&R colonies on Friday. State government has pinned high hopes on the minister's visit as it is hopeful of getting final clearance for the Revised Cost Estimates (RCE) to the tune of 47,725 crore after Shekhawath's visit to the project.

Shekhawat and chief minister would first go to the R&R colonies and interact with the oustees. They would inspect the project works before taking up the review with the officials. Shekhawath, along with the chief minister, would first visit spill way top block-26 and proceed to spillway top block-2. They would inspect the upstream coffer dam and go to power house in a special boat. Then, they would inspect the earth-cum-rock-fill dam and Gap-I area at project site. Union minister and CM would visit the downstream coffer dam before going to Gap-II of the project. He would also inspect fish ladder and go through photo exhibition to be set up at project site.
The minister would also inspect the functioning of the radial gates of the project before proceeding for the conference right adjacent to the dam.
