Andhra Pradesh: 28-year-old remand prisoner dies at government hospital in Tirupati

TIRUPATI: A remand prisoner lodged at the Sub-jail in Tirupati died at the SVRR government general hospital due to ill health late on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as K Siva Kumar (28), a resident of Mudikuntla village, Pakala mandal in Chittoor district.
According to the jail authorities, Siva Kumar was arrested in connection with a murder case by the East division police and brought to sub jail in Tirupati on March 10.

He was suffering from various ailments before he was remanded at the sub-jail.
In the early hours of Monday, the jail authorities found Siva Kumar lying unconscious on the floor. The prison authorities shifted the prisoner to the Ruia hospital in Tirupati, where he died late on Monday.
Police said that the cause of death can be ascertained only through the post-mortem report.
Alipiri CI Mr P. Subba Reddy said that based on the complaint from the jail authorities, a case was registered with the Alipiri police and a probe was being conducted. He said the case was registered under section 176 of the CrPc. Tirupati RDO Kanakanarasa Reddy is also conducting an enquiry in the case.
