Prayagraj: Four policemen sustained injuries after they were allegedly attacked by a group of armed women in the village of Kundanpur, under limits of Patti police station in Pratapgarh district, on Thursday evening. The injured policemen were taken to hospital for treatment. After lodging an FIR against the women and others under relevant sections , police on Friday claimed to have arrested seven women.
These include Amarvati Devi, Reeu Saroj, Malti, Karmaita Devi, Shobhawati, Indravati, and Monu alias Moni, all residents of Kundanpur village. .
Deputy SP (Patti) Anand Kumar Rai said, "The police team, including a woman sub-inspector, was attacked at Kundanpur village on Thursday evening when they had gone to serve notice to the house of one Raju Saroj. The family members, particularly the women, became aggressive when the cops served the notice . Soon after, a group of other women, armed with sticks, bricks, and sharp-edged weapons, attacked the police team and left four policemen injured." Upon being alerted, senior cops, along with forces, rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. The injured policemen were taken for medical treatment. Police, however, said accused Raju Saroj had as many as six criminal cases registered against him in different police stations of Pratapgarh district.
