ALLAHABAD: On the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, Allahabad Medical Association (AMA) organised a seminar.
The seminar was inaugurated by AMA president Manisha Dwivedi and conducted by secretary Yuganter Pandey. Dr BK Mishra, oncologist, delivered a lecture. He said that in India around 7 lakh persons get afflicted with cancer.
As many as 70 to 80 percent patients die, in comparison to developed countries like US. The reason being late detection and treatment.
He said that only self awareness and positive attitude towards medical care can improve the situation in India as there is no organised compulsory health insurance system and lack of treatment facilities in rural areas.
In the early stage, cancer not only the survival rate goes up but treatment is also very cheap, which important point in country like India.
