AAP slams Centre,UP on paper leaks
Prayagraj: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Central and state govts over recurring paper leaks, unlawful arrests of students and the sealing of coaching institutes that provide education to underprivileged students.
Singh remarked that the leaking of question papers for various competitive examinations, including NEET, has dealt a severe blow to the dreams of lakhs of students. Incidents of paper leaks had also surfaced in UP across numerous exams—such as Lekhpal, police recruitment, RO/ARO, PCS-J, high school/intermediate, and JE—yet govt is focused on suppressing the youth’s voice rather than taking effective action against the culprits.
He also condemned the administration’s decision to seal three coaching institutes in Prayagraj which catered to children from poor and middle-class families, describing the move as unjust and a violation of rules. He told the media that a notice regarding a breach of privilege has been submitted to the Rajya Sabha Chairman against the ADM (city) in connection with this matter.
Former MLA AN Singh alleged that policies are being formulated with the interests of large corporations in mind, while the country’s youth, farmers and laborers remain neglected.
Senior High Court lawyer KK Rai pointed out that students against whom no case had been registered were taken into custody without adherence to due legal process, an action that is entirely unconstitutional. He also said that a`habeas corpus’ petition seeking the unconditional release of the students has been filed in the HC.
