AHMEDABAD: Players from Gujarat have played a pivotal role in many matches of the IPL and in the final of the Twenty20 extravaganza on Sunday, it was Vadodara's Yusuf Pathan who took centrestage with a splendid performance with both the ball and the bat.
Pathan showed that there are very few batsmen who can match his six-hitting skills by smashing four of them in a glorious knock of 56 off just 39 balls that ensured that Team Jaipur maintained their tremendous form and pocket the premier edition of the world's biggest and most exciting and lucrative 20-20 championship.

Lakshmipathy Balaji, Muthiah Muralitharan and other Chennai bowlers felt the power of Yusuf's bat and it finally took a run out to halt the rampaging Vadodara hero.
Yusuf hammered three fours as well and was the star performer in a big 65-run partnership with Shane Watson that effectively swung the match Jaipur's way.
The Jaipur team has much to owe to cricketers from Gujarat for their unexpected success in the IPL. Ravindra Jadeja, Niraj Patel, Siddharth Trivedi and Munaf Patel have all pitched in to help transform their captain Shane Warne's dreams into reality and in the grand finale, Yusuf provided the icing on the cake.
When Team Chennai batted first on Sunday, it was Yusuf the bowler who did the star turn by bagging the first three wickets and putting a halt to Chennai's free-scoring. Yusuf pouched the scalps of Parthiv Patel, Albie Morkel and S Vidyut just when they were threatening to break loose.
