Terror-struck patients at trauma ward of LG Hospital in Maninagar at 10.30 pm on Wednesday when gang war spilled into the hospital campus. Balwant Kahar, 22, an Amraiwadi resident, was stabbed to death in the trauma ward. Balwant had sustained 20 stab injuries and died before the hospital staff could rush to his aid, moments after the goons escaped leaving behind a trail of blood, chaos, frightened patients and hospital staff.
City police have registered a complaint lodged by Balwant’s brother Raja who charged Amit Thapa, Chako Barot, Vinod Gurjar and an unidentified person with the attack. The fourth person was later identified as Hemant Pal alias Pappu. "All four are members of the Anupam gang which operates in Maninagar and Amraiwadi," said police officials investigating the case. According to police, the incident was the result of rivalry between two gangs of criminals – Vishnu Rabari gang and Anupam Gang. "Both gangs are into diesel theft from trucks parked along highways on the outskirts of the city. This became the bone of contention between the gangs," said cops.
