AHMEDABAD: Flight operations at the city airport which had gone haywire due to re-carpeting of the runway are set to return to normal. Ahmedabad airport officials closed the runway for re-carpeting work between May 15 and June 15 from 10.30 am to 5pm. Domestic business travel was severely affected as all flights in the afternoon were re-scheduled or suspended.
However, airport officials on Friday announced that the re-carpeting was complete and all airlines operating from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have been informed. An airline official said that as an international NOTAM (notice to airmen) was sounded for flight operations to be suspended between May 16 and June 16 from 10.30 am to 5pm, most airlines will resume normal operations by June 15.
The Ahmedabad airport was re-carpeted after 10 years and sevreal complaints by airlines.
