Desai bowls Gujarat to victory

Gujarat's Siddharth Desai had a 14-wicket haul in the victory over Kashmir, helping them coast to a comfortable victory. Ahmedabad had been trailing by three points with only one game remaining in the Ranji Trophy, so the win was essential. Priyank Panchal was dismissed for a naught, ensuring a ninewicket win and six points for Gujarat. Jammu and Kashmir's Henan Nazir and Gujarat's Shubham Pundir began the repair job, but after adding 10 more runs to the overnight total, Henan was caught by Priyank off the other left-arm spinner Hardik Patel for 43. Vivrant Sharma (41 runs, 4 sixes, 1 boundary) and Pundir (56 runs, 5 wickets) added 56 for the fifth wicket before Karan Patel caught Sharma off the bowling of Desai to end a promising partnership. The Jammu and Kashmir batting unit then folded like a pack of cards, and lost the remaining five wickets for 29 runs, four of them captured by Desai. In the process, Desai reached 100 wickets in 22 first-class matches. 14 for 104 is Desai's first 10-wicket haul and the best bowling figures
