AGARTALA: The ruling BJP of Tripura on Thursday claimed that a few CPM MLAs have been in contact with them.
BJP leader and state information minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the main opposition CPM is frustrated due to largescale desertion from and impressive growth of the BJP in the state because of progressive governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said what the CPM in his 25 years' rule could not have imagined, the BJP-IPFT government under the leadership of Biplab Kumar Deb implemented and won the hearts of the common people four years. Now, nobody has to queue up in front of party offices to get benefits of development schemes or a government job, Chowdhury claimed.
"Everything is transparent and merit-driven with logical connotation and that was the biggest challenge for the communists. During their regime even a simple administrative work was not done if one did not have connection with a leader, but today this government has changed the tradition," Chowdhury said.
The statement of Chowdhury came after leader of the opposition and former chief minister Manik Sarkar accused the Prime Minister of misleading the people with his speech and claimed that all the success stories of development projects were the fruit of his government, including the new terminal building of MBB Airport here.
Sarkar on Wednesday told the media that PM Modi had made an untruthful statement accusing erstwhile Left Front government that the brakes were pressed on the wheels of development and vehicle of corruption was speeding up in Tripura before the formation of the BJP government.
Justifying his claim, Sarkar said, "The demand for inclusion of semi-permanent structure into the eligibility for PM Awas Yojana was raised by us in 2011 and after Modi became Prime Minister. I several times sought his attention to change the criteria but then he was mum and now he is giving credit to the BJP government in the state."
