Vidya Balan denyies rumours of her alleged link ups with her co-stars.Her smile lights up the room as Vidya Balan walks in and it's easy to see why this Lolita of
Parineeta found a way straight into cine-goers ' hearts. "It all feels like a fairytale. I am truly blessed," she says about her journey of two years in Bollywood. And even though her recent films didn't exactly set the box-office on fire, there are a number of filmmakers queuing up to sign her. Unfazed by the fate of her films at the BO, she says, "I am still learning. I did a couple of roles, because they were brilliant directors, but I know people were disappointed by their length. So,
Halla Bol will be the last small role for me." And will we see her doing an item number? "Not in a long time. I don't think my body language is sexy enough to pull off those numbers," she laughs.
And while professionally she's been going great guns with films like
Halla Bol, Hey Baby, an untitled film with Aziz Mirza and yet another one with Priyadarshan, her personal life's not been "too happening" she says, what with her battling her share of alleged link-ups . But the actress who was once linked to Sanjay Dutt and more recently her co-star John Abraham takes it all in her stride. "I look at rumours as professional hazards. I am over that phase when such rumours would move me to tears," she reveals.
Dismissing the rumours, she says, "What are they talking about? I haven't even been in touch with the people they are linking me up with after shooting. It's bizarre and unthinkable. I mean they are all wonderful people, but for God's sake - an affair? Just because I share a certain comfort level with a co-star and a good chemistry on screen, does not mean that there's something to it. If I share a great camaraderie with Boman Irani, will I be linked with him as well? Not likely, because that wouldn't make interesting news!"
So all those reports about her and John... "Are all imaginations of some creative minds in overdrive. John is a great guy and we had fun shooting, but that's where it all ends. As long as the people who matter know the truth, I don't care. Kuchh to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna... "
So what's really happening on the personal front? "There's nothing happening since a long time and I intend to keep it that way," she says. "I don't think I will be able to handle a relationship at this point. A relationship would mean a distraction, because I can't multitask . Besides, I don't think I'm ready for a relationship yet," she says. What does she want in her man? "I have no pre-conceived notions about my Mr Right," says Vidya, who's a self-admitted , die-hard romantic. "If I love him, I love him. Even if he has his feet pointing backwards."
