NDA, BJP, UDF lead as four-state counting gathers pace
Across four state assemblies, counting is well underway with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has a tally of 97, with 28 seats won and 69 leads, already crossing the majority mark if those leads hold. Congress-led opposition has a tally of 22, all in leads, while independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively account for 7 seats. In West Bengal, the 294-seat assembly requires 148 for a majority. BJP holds a tally of 179, comprising 11 won seats and 168 leads, crossing the majority threshold on current trends. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, made up of 2 won seats and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide a majority in the 30-seat assembly, NDA has a tally of 18, with 13 seats won and 5 leads, crossing the majority mark at this stage. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading. Independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry. In Kerala, UDF leads the 140-seat count with a tally of 87, comprising 68 won seats and 19 leads, crossing the majority mark of 71 if those leads hold. LDF is trailing with a tally of 36, with 30 won and 6 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 17 seats in Kerala.
