CHENNAI: A 38-year-old woman suffered minor burn injuries when her husband poured cleaning acid on her at their house in ICF early Wednesday morning. Police said the man was enraged after his wife refused to have
sex with him.

Jayalakshmi, 38, lived at Railway Colony in ICF. The couple has five children. On Tuesday night, Kupparao came home drunk and pestered his wife to have sex with him.
She not only refused but also abused him for being an alcoholic.
After an argument, Jayalakshmi chased Kupparao out of the house and slept inside without locking the door. He returned home later in the night and again, at 3am on Wednesday, asked her to sleep with him. Jayalakshmi pushed him away and warned him of dire consequences.
An angry Kupparao went to the bathroom and took the diluted acidthat Jayalakshmi had kept there. The woman, who was sleeping, was caught unawares when he poured the acid on her. Hearing her cries, the neighbours rushed in and took her to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. She was discharged after treatment. Police said the woman sustained minor injuries on her shoulder and hands. She refused to file a complaint and said she was going in for a compromise with her husband, police said.
