"Kerala Saar… Get well soon saar!" – Malayalis roast back at comedian Jaspreet Singh over ‘India's Got Latent’ controversy’
The latest episode of India's Got Latent has triggered backlash for its problematic content, including racist undertones, incestuous jokes, and offensive humor disguised as comedy. The show, hosted by Samay Raina, featured a panel comprising Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid), Ashish Chanchlani, and comedian Jaspreet Singh.
While several remarks made by Allahbadia and Apoorva sparked outrage, a clip of Jaspreet Singh mocking Kerala has now gone viral. The video shows Singh stereotyping Malayalis with an exaggerated accent, saying, “Kerala, Saar… 100 per cent literacy Saar,” after a contestant from Kerala revealed she had no political leanings and did not vote. The panel had already ridiculed her for lacking a clear political ideology before Jaspreet's remark escalated the situation.
Malayalis on social media were quick to roast back at Jaspreet Singh, calling out his stereotypical and insensitive joke. Many slammed the show for its poor taste and for normalizing regional mockery under the garb of humor.
One Malayali Twitter user wrote, “Why Kerala >Better Civic sense >Cleaner places >No pan stains in public places >Better literacy rate >No “Only speak in state language Saar” >Brings more remittance to India >Produces best films in the country >The best sea food in the country >No unnecessary honking in traffic.”
Another Tweet read, “Kerala saar…. 100 % literacy saar…. Get well soon.. Will keep you in my prayers..”
Another Tweet read, “Believed successfully mocked Kerala. But Look at the condition now We influencer saar we are not normal people saar... We are intelligent saar... It's literally like a failed student mocking a first rank student ,#BeerBicepsGuy.”
A Tweet read, “Kerala Saar... 100% Literacy Saar... There is basic difference in Literacy & Education Literacy: u can read & write Education: u can implement gained knowledge in real life.”
Not only Twitter, they also faced heat from Instagram users. One Instagram user commented, “Kerala: where 100% literacy meets 200% common sense, and stereotypes are left at the door. Here, we celebrate a culture built on education, progress, and inclusivity—proving that outdated assumptions have no place in a modern, empowered society. Let’s break free from stereotypes and embrace a future defined by knowledge, dignity, and true cultural pride. @lifeofpaaji Not cool bro.”
