Himachal Pradesh rains: State declared 'Natural calamity affected area’
The Himachal Pradesh government declared the entire state a "natural calamity affected area" due to heavy rains triggering landslides and severe destruction. The monsoon season has resulted in 75 deaths, primarily due to landslides in districts like Shimla. The state has experienced extensive loss of lives and property, including thousands of damaged dwellings. Since June 24, 217 rain-related deaths have occurred, with 11,301 houses damaged. The state has faced disruptions in infrastructure, including closed roads, disrupted transformers, and water supply issues. Evacuations have been conducted due to flooding in multiple areas.
