Allahabad HC wants cows to be national animal, its protection to be fundamental right

The Allahabad High Court denied bail to a man accused of cow slaughter, citing protection of cows. It observed that the cow should be declared the national animal and its protection be made a fundamental right of the Hindus because when the country’s culture and its faith get hurt, the country becomes weak. With these observations, it has asked for the Centre to bring in a bill to declare the cow as the national animal.
