President appoints Justice SA Bobde as next CJI

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in the Lok Sabha, attacked Naxalism and its ideological roots, linking it to global communist movements in Russia and China. He said organizations like CPI, CPI(M), and CPI (ML) were formed with the objective of opposing parliamentary democracy and pursuing armed revolution. Shah stressed that India, as a constitutional democracy, cannot justify such violence. He asserted that Naxalism is not about development but driven by Leftist ideology, and criticized attempts to equate Naxalites with freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Birsa Munda. Reiterating the government’s stance, Shah said dialogue is possible only if arms are surrendered, warning that those using violence will face strict action. He emphasized that the government is committed to justice, democracy, and eliminating extremism from the country.
