The National Green Tribunal has imposed a total ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in NCR. It has also ordered a similar ban in all cities/towns where air quality falls below 'poor'. The ban on firecrackers will start from midnight of November 9 to midnight of November 30. The NGT also directed all states/UTs to initiate drives to contain air pollution from all sources in view of potential aggravation of Covid-19. Delhi Police on Sunday said that all licences issued for the sale of firecrackers in the national capital have been suspended and further action will be taken on NGT’s directions.
