Manipur Tensions Rise After Bodies Of Six Abducted Naga Hostages Recovered In Kangpokpi
Tensions have escalated in Manipur after the bodies of six Naga civilians allegedly abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13 were recovered following an extensive search operation. The recovery has triggered outrage among Naga organisations, which have demanded justice and accountability for the killings.According to Manipur Police, nearly 450 personnel from the state police, CRPF and Assam Rifles, assisted by forensic teams and sniffer dogs, participated in the search operation that led to the recovery of the bodies. The victims are believed to be among those taken hostage last month amid ongoing ethnic tensions in the state.The United Naga Council has condemned the killings and announced a 24-hour shutdown, while demanding action against those responsible and a review of the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki militant groups. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has assured strict action and pledged that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
