LS polls: BJP drops Somaiya, names candidates against Sonia, Mulayam, Akhilesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party has dropped its sitting MP Kirit Somaiya as its candidate from Mumbai North East. BJP has also announced nominees for the Lok Sabha election against key opposition leaders like Sonia Gandhi (Congress) and Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party. While BJP pitted Bhojpuri actor and singer Dinesh Lal Yadav against Akhilesh Yadav from Azamgarh, it fielded Prem Singh Shakya against Mulayam Singh Yadav from Mainpuri. Against Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli, BJP has fielded Dinesh Pratap Singh, who had left the Congress to join it.
