Under Village Defence Guards Scheme, the Village Defence Committee received a permanent status in Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir. This will not only generate employment among the people in the Valley but will also aid the safety in the militancy-affected areas. The locals being the members of the committee will also have a better knowledge of the area. “It is a matter of joy. VDGs will be able to keep vigil on militancy-affected areas. They're locals and know the areas well,” Kalakote BDC Chairman Choudhary Babu Khan said.
