Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns in Parliament over the reported attack on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, questioning his security and pointing to the Centre’s control over the local police after the region’s statehood changes. Kharge said there was a danger to Abdullah’s security and noted that local security personnel had intervened to protect him. Responding to the remarks, Union Minister JP Nadda said the alleged assassination attempt was a serious matter and assured that a proper investigation would be carried out. He added that the accused had already been arrested and that necessary steps would be taken to enhance Abdullah’s security, while also criticising attempts to politicise the issue.
