Chhattisgarh 'coal theft' video sparks row, exposes chinks in SECL mine security

Day after an inquiry was ordered on a viral video showing a large number of people collecting and carrying coal from an opencast coal mine, purportedly of South Eastern Coalfield Limited (SECL) in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district, the investigation team didn’t find any similarity from the location as shown in the video. Moreover, police are yet to receive a complaint from SECL regarding coal theft from its mine where the central force CISF is deployed. SECL is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited and the officials told the media that the police will verify the video if any coal theft information coming to the fore is reported to police. A video was in circulation on social media showing a large number of people on a mining site collecting and carrying some stuff (supposedly coal) in gunnysacks.
