Vice President Kamala Harris welcomed German Chancellor Angela Merkel to her residence in Washington on Thursday. Harris and Merkel's meeting comes before a formal meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden. What is expected to be Merkel's last official visit comes with an overarching message for Berlin’s close ally: You’ve got a friend.
