BJP's Rahul Narvekar elected as Maharashtra assembly speaker
In a major setback to the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, BJP’s Rahul Narvekar elected as the Maharashtra assembly speaker on the first day of 2-day special assembly session. Narvekar got 164 votes out of 288. Samajwadi Party MLAs Abu Azmi and Raees Shaikh abstain from voting against BJP candidate Rahul Narvekar. The Eknath Shinde government will face floor test on the second day of the session.
