Ancient art form ‘Kutiyattam’ returns to theatres after Kerala govt eases COVID restrictions
‘Kutiyattam’, an ancient Sanskrit theatrical art form of Kerala, returned to the theatres after Kerala government eased COVID restrictions. Kutiyattam is around 2000 years-old art form and has also been recognized by the UNESCO. It is usually performed only in temple theatres known as ‘Koothambalam’ by members of the Chakyar and Nambiar communities. Only through rigorous training lasting many years one can aspire to master the craft of ‘Kutiyattam’.
