A breakthrough has eluded the Centre and agitating farmers. Farmers have said their stir against the new farm laws would continue. The two sides agreed to meet again on Thursday to seek solutions. The protests are over the recent legislations that facilitate sale of foodgrains outside the APMC-mandi system and allow contract farming. Farmers’ representatives insisted they wouldn’t suspend the ongoing protests. They want firm assurance from the Centre on repealing the newly enacted laws. They also rejected a government proposal to set up a committee of experts to study the three laws.
