EPCA announces measures to curb air pollution, bans diesel gensets in Delhi-NCR from October 15
Covid is still in the air, and now the air itself is turning toxic. With air quality plummeting to "poor" in Delhi this week, the Suprim Court appointed Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) on Thursday announced measures under the “very poor” to “severe” category of the Graded Response Action Plan to be enforced from October 15. Use of diesel generator sets in Delhi and the other NCR towns of Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram has been banned. Delhi’s AQI on Thursday was recorded at 208, which falls in the “poor” category according to the CPCB. On Wednesday, the AQI was 215, touching the “poor” category for the first time in three months. Before that, the city had recorded poor air quality on June 29 when the AQI was 230.
